Participate in an experiential series exploring place-based ecological relationships through sound, story, and community.
Explore everyday sounds hidden on your school campus. Through guided field recordings, soundwalks, and mobile installations, students explore the ecological, cultural, and technological layers of campus soundscapes & deepen connections to place and community.
Engage with non-human residents by exploring, recording, & interpreting sonic rhythms surrounding your community. Neighborhood sound recordings and storytelling reveal the interplay between human activity, built environments, and ecological processes. Projects encourage residents to reimagine public spaces through sound-based interventions and creative placemaking.
Attune to the complex acoustic ecologies of desert landscapes, hiking trails, & waterways. Bioacoustic monitoring and artistic interpretations amplify ecological processes and reveal interactions between natural and human-made sounds to promote ecological awareness & stewardship through new ways of listening.
All projects integrate sciences, humanities, and arts to enhance everyday experiences on campuses, in neighborhoods, and at Arizona parks.
